The King of Coaches

Australian coach Ki Sik Lee, a South Korean who took charge of his national program in his mid-20s, may have the most jaw-dropping record of any coach at the Olympics. Since 1984, Lee has never taken a team to an Olympics and not returned with a gold medal. His athletes – Koreans up until 1996, Australia in 2000 – have cornered nine of the 18 gold medals awarded in the past 20 years. What’s more, making the cultural coaching change from do-anything Koreans to ocker Aussie teenagers while maintaining success is near astonishing.
