Defending champion kicked out in first match!

The first knockouts of this Monday’s afternoon have already led to big surprises. The defending Olympic champion Simon Fairweather has prematurely lost his crown in the 1/32 round. The victory certainly turned to Belarus Anton Prylepav’s advantage when the Australian shot a poor 1 point with his 8th arrow: "Of cours I am disappointed with my performance. When I scored only one point with one of my arrows it had a negative effect on me. I want to stay focused for the Team Competition, as that is all I can do now", he said. The final score was 141-137.

In the other match, the surprising Bhutan’s archer hit a high score of 161 to beat Jocelyn de Grandis from France (136 points). Tashi Peljor, one of the three wildcard entrants in the Men’s competition, impressed by his regularity in spite of swirling winds. He scored five 10s, eight 9s, four 8s, and one 7 with his final arrow.
