Scores take the lift at Panathinaiko

This morning’s archery session started well for the defending Olympic champion, Yun Mi Jim from Korea, as she tied her own Olympic record with 173 points to beat Japanese Sayami Matsushita. "In the next round she will break the Olympic record", said Yun’s coach Seo Geo won after the victory of his protégée.

24-year old Tshering Chhoden from Bhutan missed her best chance to progress to tomorrow’s Women’s individual Gold day. In her 1/16 match with Indian Reena Kumari, she had a 10-point lead after the first end. Missing the target with her 9th arrow, Chhoden little by little decomposed itself. With a poor 5 at her last arrow, she only managed to tie her opponent’s score. In the shoot-off Kumari shot 7 to win the match, as Chhoden could not do better than 4.
