Home Star Psarra progresses to Gold Day

The Greek Evangelia Psarra came out victorious of a very tight 1/16 match late this morning at the Panathinaiko Stadium. Shooting against Zekiye Keskin Satir from Turkey, Psarra shot a perfect 30 in the fifth end to take the lead by 3 points.

With her very last arrow, the Turkish archer put pressure on the Greek as she scored an X (10 points). The whole stadium was holding its breath for Psarra’s final arrow… she would win with a 9… she shot a perfect 10! "It was an interesting match, my opponent was very tough. I believe that the crucial shot was my last 10. The support I received from the crowd helped me to win", said Psarra right after her victory.

Psarra’s next opponent tomorrow in the Women’s individual Gold day will be Spain’s Almudena Gallardo: "I’ve played against her once in the past, and she beat me. But now it’s my turn because I am playing at home and I am feeling strong", said 8 seed Greek archer.
