Seven 10s in a row for Chen Szu Yuan

From the start of the Olympic competition, the archers from Chinese Taipei have made a strong impression and might well be one of the main opponents to Korea’s supremacy. In today afternoon’s Men 1/16 round, 23-year old Chen Szu Yuan shot 170, finishing his match with an impressing seven 10s in a row to beat Yavor Hristov from Bulgaria who shot 159 only.

In the last match of the day, fourth ranked Korean Park Kyung Mo was put under great pressure by experienced Stanislav Zabrodsky from Kazakhstan. The two past World Champions – Park was in 1993 and Zabrodsky in 1989 – were tied with 164 points each after their 18 arrows. They then both shot a 10 with their first shoot-off arrow. The Ukrainian finally let the qualification go to his Korean opponent when he shot an 8 with his second arrow, Park clinching the match with 9 points.
