Chinese Taipei puts an end to Yun’s reign

Sydney Olympic champion prematurely lost her crown in her quarterfinal against Yuan Shu Chi from Chinese Taipei. The Korean Yun Mi Jin, who is the reigning Women’s Individual World Champion, suffered an upsetting defeat against promising Yuan.

Shooting a poor 7 with her last arrow, Yun opened the door for Yuan who rushed into it without further ado. She did not miss this chance to progress to an Olympic semifinal. "I am happy, I am feeling like I have reached the sky. I will do my best to win a medal", the Chinese Taipei archer after her deserved 107-105 victory.

In the third quarterfinal, Yuan’s team mate Wu Hui Ju put another Korean in great danger. Leading Lee Sung Jin with three arrows to go, Wu shot 25 points only in the last end to let the match slip through her fingers by one little point, 104-103.
